Royal College condemns the hate-motivated attack in London, Ont.
We are deeply saddened by the hate-motivated attack in London, Ont., that resulted in the death and injury of members of a Muslim family. Words cannot express how shocked and horrified we are by this act of violence, and the Islamophobia and racism that incited it.
Racism has no place in our society. Sadly, we are seeing increasing reports in our news media of violence and hate-fuelled behaviours. Now, more than ever, we have a collective responsibility to publicly condemn these acts, and to promote the dignity and freedom of all people.
For our part, the Royal College is committed to fostering a culture of equity, diversity and inclusion. Going forward we will embed these values in all aspects of our work so to inform a long-term commitment to address anti-racism.
With shared sorrow,
Susan Moffatt-Bruce, MD, FRCSC, PhD, MBA, FACS
