Rationale and process for change
The change to “Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation” was requested by the AFC Working Group for the newly recognized AFC (diploma) discipline. The rationale presented for this request is that the discipline has evolved since its recognition in 2017, to include the infusion of hematopoietic cells that have been modified to target specific diseases and/or infection under the scope of cellular therapy.
The request was reviewed by the Royal College’s Committee on Specialties during their April 8-9, 2019, meeting. The committee agreed to proceed with the intent toward the change. They are now inviting feedback from stakeholders before a decision is made.
Send your feedback by September 8, 2019

Feedback can be forwarded to the Office of Specialty Education at cos@royalcollege.ca, Attn: Jason R. Frank, MD, MA(Ed), FRCPC, director, Specialty Education, Strategy and Standards.
All feedback received within this timeframe will be used by the Royal College’s Office of Specialty Education in reaching a final decision regarding the above request. Should the application be accepted, a notice will be made to Royal College staff, committees and stakeholders to this effect.
