Eugene John Murray Cholod, MD, FRCPC, died on May 14, 2019, in Grand Bend, Ont., at age 81. Dr. Cholod was certified by the Royal College in Internal Medicine in 1968. He graduated from the University of Alberta with his medical degree in 1962 and practised in London, Ont. Read more about Dr. Cholod.

Jean-Paul Daoust, MD, FRCPC, died on August 12, 2019, in Irishtown, N.B., at age 89. Dr. Daoust was certified by the Royal College in Internal Medicine in 1961. Before running a private practice in Moncton, N.B., he graduated from Université de Montréal with his medical degree in 1956. Read more about Dr. Daoust.

William “Bill” Lawrie Dunn, MD, FRCPC, died on May 5, 2019, in Vancouver, B.C., at age 91. Dr. Dunn was certified by the Royal College in General Pathology in 1964. A former departmental head of pathology and laboratory medicine at the University of British Columbia, his students remember his mentorship as a “guiding light.” He also served on the Royal College Anatomical Pathology Examination Board (1978-1981) and Neuropathology Examination Board (1978-1980, 1982). Constantine “Tino” Ethans, MD, FRCPC, died on May 22, 2019, in Winnipeg, Man., at age 82. Dr. Ethans was certified by the Royal College in Anesthesiology in 1966. He was instrumental in the establishment of the anesthesia department at the University of Manitoba and in the incorporation of day surgery at the Western Surgery Centre. Read more about Dr. Ethans.

Valerie Margaret Godsalve, MD, FRCPC, died on June 15, 2019, in Saskatoon, Sask., at age 72. Dr. Godsalve was certified by the Royal College in Anatomical Pathology in 1979. She graduated from University of Saskatchewan with her medical degree in 1975. Read more about Dr. Godsalve.

Lawrence Garth Hampson, MDCM, FRCSC, died on May 17, 2019, in Montreal, Que., at age 95. Dr. Hampson was certified by the Royal College in General Surgery in 1954. He graduated from McGill University with his medical degree in 1949. Read more about Dr. Hampson.

Barrie Kandel M. Hanchard, MBBS, FRCPC, died on August 1, 2019, in Kingston, Jamaica, at age 75. Dr. Hanchard was certified by the Royal College in Anatomical Pathology in 1973. Regarded as Jamaica’s leading pathologist, he was also a former director of the Jamaica Cancer Society. Read more about Dr. Hanchard (and tribute in Nationwide Radio).

Robert Kisilevsky, MDCM, FRCPC, died on June 5, 2019, in Kingston, Ont., at age 81. Dr. Kisilevsky was certified by the Royal College in Anatomical Pathology in 1972. A former head of the pathology department at Queen’s University, he published over 300 papers and founded two biotechnology companies. Read more about Dr. Kisilevsky.

Edward David Levinson, MDCM, FRCPC, died on July 10, 2019, in Toronto, Ont., at age 94. Dr. Levinson was certified by the Royal College in Psychiatry in 1958. Retiring at age 93, his patients included Holocaust survivors and their children. Read more about Dr. Levinson.

Keith Leonard MacCannell, MD, FRCPC, died on May 8, 2019, in Calgary, Alta., at age 85. Dr. MacCannell was certified by the Royal College in Internal Medicine (1965) and Gastroenterology (1984). A pillar of the University of Calgary, he served as chairman of the pharmacology and therapeutics department, associate dean of research, and chief of Gastroenterology. Timothy Macleod Murray, MD, FRCPC, died on August 27, 2019, in Toronto, Ont., at age 81. Dr. Murray was certified by the Royal College in Internal Medicine in 1970. He co-founded Osteoporosis Canada and the Canadian Multicentre Osteoporosis Study. Read more about Dr. Murray.

Stephen Joseph O’Rourke, FRCPC (Ireland), FRCPC, died on August 11, 2019, in Richmond Hill, Ont., at age 93. Dr. O’Rourke was certified by the Royal College in Anesthesiology in 1958. Recognized as a pioneer in his specialty, he advanced spinal anesthesia and obstetrical epidural. Read more about Dr. O’Rourke.

Andre Perreault, MD, FRCSC, died on September 19, 2019, in Sainte-Adèle, Que., at age 65. Dr. Perreault was certified by the Royal College in Orthopedic Surgery in 2011. He graduated from Université de Montréal with his medical degree in 1991. Read more about Dr. Perreault.

George Ernest Pugh, MD, FRCPC, died on August 3, 2019, in Vancouver, B.C., at age 70. Dr. Pugh was certified by the Royal College in Emergency Medicine in 1984. He leaves behind a legacy at Mount Saint Joseph Hospital where he was director of emergency. Read more about Dr. Pugh.

John Burke Sullivan, MD, FRCSC, died on May 18, 2019, in Timmins, Ont., at age 92. Dr. Sullivan was certified by the Royal College in General Surgery in 1962. He is remembered as a “wise, intelligent, skilled and compassionate healer.” Read more about Dr. Sullivan.

Bernadette Tanguay, MD, FRCPC, died on August 8, 2019, in Saint-Vallier, Que., at age 78. Dr. Tanguay was certified by the Royal College in Psychiatry in 1971. A former head of Unité de psychothérapie psychanalytique at Hôpital du Sacré-Coeur de Montréal, she taught at Université de Montréal. She also served as a member on the Royal College Psychiatry Examination Board (1988-1991, 1996-1997). Read more about Dr. Tanguay.
