Joan Elizabeth Marsh, MD, FRCPC, died on December 22, 2020, in Sidney, B.C., at age 96. Dr. Marsh was certified by the Royal College in Psychiatry in 1972. She was a graduate of the University of Aberdeen in Scotland where she obtained her medical degree in 1949. Read more about Dr. Marsh.

John Derek Wyant, MD, FRCSC, died on December 22, 2020, in Thunder Bay, Ont., at age 82. Dr. Wyant was certified by the Royal College in General Surgery in 1972. He served as chief of surgery for the Thunder Bay hospitals for over 20 years, before his retirement in 1999. Read more about Dr. Wyant.

George R.C.W. Gray, MD, FRCPC, died on January 17, 2021, in Vancouver, B.C., at age 88. Dr. Gray was certified by the Royal College in General Pathology in 1964. He served for many years as division head of Hematopathology at Vancouver General Hospital. Dr. Gray was also a member of the Royal College Examination Board and a council member of the Canadian Medical Association. Read more about Dr. Gray.

Terrance Cecil Lyle, MD, FRCPC, died on January 6, 2021, in Ottawa, Ont., at age 79. Dr. Lyle was certified by the Royal College in Diagnostic Radiology in 1973. He was a graduate of the University of Ottawa where he obtained his medical degree in 1967. Read more about Dr. Lyle.

David Alton Murphy, MD, FRCSC, died on February 24, 2021, in Kingsburg, N.S., at age 88. Dr. Murphy was certified by the Royal College in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery in 1966.  He was the founder of the Maritime Heart Centre and he also served on more than 20 provincial and national committees, including Royal College Council. Jay Stephen Keystone, MD, FRCPC, died on September 3, 2019, in Toronto, Ont., at age 76. Dr. Keystone was certified by the Royal College in Internal Medicine in 1975. He was president of the International Society of Travel Medicine and in 2015 he was appointed to the Order of Canada. Read more about Dr. Keystone.

Allan Martin Lysack, MD, FRCSC, died on February 3, 2021, in Dauphin, Man., at age 87. Dr. Lysack was certified by the Royal College in General Surgery in 1965. Over his 50-year career he served on numerous local and provincial medical committees. Dr. Lysack was a recipient of Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee Medal and he was also a member of the Order of Canada. Read more about Dr. Lysack.

Dennis Michael McElgunn, MD, FRCPC, died on March 14, 2020, in Victoria, B.C., at age 74. Dr. McElgunn was certified by the Royal College in Emergency Medicine in 1986. In addition to directing the Edmonton Fire Department and many other leadership roles, he led the Victoria Emergency Physicians group for many years. Read more about Dr. McElgunn.

William Joseph “Bill” O’Hara, MD, FRCPC, died on December 4, 2020, in Thunder Bay, Ont., at age 70. Dr. O’Hara was certified by the Royal College in Internal Medicine in 1981. He was a graduate of the University of Toronto where he obtained his medical degree in 1976. Read more about Dr. O’Hara.

Suleiman O.A. Sefau, MD, FRCSC, died on July 15, 2020, in Charlottetown, P.E.I., at age 52. Dr. Sefau was certified by the Royal College in Ophthalmology in 2006. In addition to his work in medicine, Dr. Sefau was a community leader who helped build one of the first mosques on Prince Edward Island. Read more about Dr. Sefau.
