Brian William Knott Fayle, MBChB, FRCPC, died on April 6, 2020, in Cambridge, Ont., at age 89. Dr. Fayle was certified by the Royal College in Diagnostic Radiology in 1962. His medical career included work in public and private practice in Canada, Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom. Read more about Dr. Fayle.
Edward Kingstone, MDCM, FRCPC, died on March 29, 2020, in Toronto, Ont., at age 89. Dr. Kingstone was certified by the Royal College in Psychiatry in 1962. His medical career highlights included the following positions: Editor of the McGill Daily; Associate Professor at The Allan Memorial Institute in Montreal; and Chair of the Psychiatry Departments at both Sunnybrook Hospital and McMaster University. Samuel Stuart Brown, MBChB, FRCPC, died on September 24, 2019, in Qualicum Beach, B.C., at age 89. Dr. Brown was certified by the Royal College in Anesthesiology in 1973. Before specializing in Anesthesiology, Dr. Brown began his medical career as a General Practitioner. Read more about Dr. Brown.
David John Scott, MD, FRCSC, died on April 25, 2020, in Arnprior, Ont., at age 88. Dr. Scott was certified by the Royal College in Surgery in 1962. In addition to serving on the Dufferin County Board of Education and the Orangeville Planning Board, Dr. Scott also served on several local, provincial and national health care advisory committees. Yvon Paul Morrissette, MD, FRCSC, died on January 13, 2020, in Quebec City, Que., at age 87. Dr. Morrissette was certified by the Royal College in Surgery in 1968. He graduated from Université Laval with his medical degree in 1959. Read more about Dr. Morrissette.
Christopher Noel Williams, MD, FRCPC, died on December 18, 2019, in Edmonton, Alta., at age 83. Dr. Williams was certified by the Royal College in Internal Medicine in 1968. He spent most of his career in Halifax as a clinician, professor and researcher. Read more about Dr. Williams.
Jean-Pierre Lacoursière, MD, FRCSC, died on January 31, 2020, in Quebec City, Que., at age 82. Dr. Lacoursière was certified by the Royal College in Orthopedic Surgery in 1969. He practiced at Hôpital du Haut-Richelieu for 20 years and was the head of Surgery at Hôtel-Dieu de Lévis for 10 years. Read more about Dr. Lacoursière.
Vahan Vartian, MD, FRCSC, died on February 6, 2020, in Montreal, Que., at age 82. Dr. Vartian was certified by the Royal College in Anesthesiology in 1972. During his medical career, he worked in several health institutions in Quebec from Îles-de-la-Madeleine to Montréal and Abitibi-Témiscamingue. Read more about Dr. Vartian.
Donald Preston Warren, MD, FRCPC, died on April 9, 2020 in North Vancouver, B.C., at age 82. Dr. Warren was certified by the Royal College in Internal Medicine in 1965. Known to those close to him as “Doctor Bow Tie,” Dr. Warren practised his specialty at Lions Gate Hospital where he also served as chief of staff and chief of medicine until retirement. Robert E. Primeau, MD, FRCPC, died on February 14, 2020, in Saint-Laurent, Que., at age 82. Dr. Primeau was certified by the Royal College in Internal Medicine in 1965. He worked at Montréal Sacré-Coeur Hospital for more than four decades. In 2012, Dr. Primeau was presented with a Cardiologist Emeritus Award from the Association des cardiologues du Québec for his contributions to the advancement of Cardiology in Quebec.
