In memoriam (June 2019)
Isabelle Bachand, MD, FRCPC, died on April 21, 2019, in Saint-Zotique, Que., at age 51. Dr. Bachand was certified by the Royal College in Medical Biochemistry in 1998. She is remembered for her kindness, integrity and dedication to her work. Read more about Dr. Bachand.
William (Bill) Feldman, MDCM, FRCPC, died on May 25, 2019, in Toronto at age 82. Dr. Feldman was certified in Pediatrics in 1966. He was a prolific Royal College volunteer, serving on the Fellowship Affairs Committee (1997-2002) and Pediatrics Examination Board (1973-1978). Dr. Feldman also worked as editor of the Annals of the Royal College. He leaves behind a legacy at Toronto SickKids where he was formerly head of the Division of General Pediatrics. Andre Marais, MBChB, FRCPC, died on February 21, 2019, in Saskatoon, Sask., at age 65. Dr. Marais was certified by the Royal College in Diagnostic Radiology in 1995. He earned his medical degree from the University of Stellenbosch (in South Africa) in 1977. Read more about Dr. Marais.
William Kevin Thompson, MD, FRCPC, died on April 10, 2019, in Queensville, Ont., at age 71. Dr. Thompson was certified by the Royal College in Anesthesiology in 1982. He is deeply missed by his family and friends. Read more about Dr. Thompson.
Marie Quintal, MD, FRCPC, died on March 31, 2019, in Gatineau, Que., at age 59. Dr. Quintal was certified by the Royal College in Psychiatry in 1988. She was a dedicated psychiatrist and cared deeply about her patients, one of whom says she is “a lost treasure.” Read more about Dr. Quintal.
Paul Roy, MD, FRCPC, died on April 22, 2019, in Boucherville, Que., at age 91. Dr. Roy was certified by the Royal College in Diagnostic Radiology in 1958. An accomplished innovator, for close to 50 years he was associated with l’Hotel-Dieu de Montréal. He was also a professor emeritus at the University of Montreal. Read more about Dr. Roy.
