Jacques Bernier, MD, FRCPC, died on January 5, 2021, in Edmonton, Alta., at age 90. Dr. Bernier was certified by the Royal College in Diagnostic Radiology in 1972. He was a graduate of Laval University where he obtained his medical degree in 1956. Read more about Dr. Bernier.

Valentine Henry Conway, MD, FRCSC, died on April 16, 2021, in St. John’s, NL., at age 75. Dr. Conway was certified by the Royal College in Ophthalmology in 1980. He was a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Gold and Diamond Jubilee medals. Dr. Conway was a graduate of Dalhousie University in Halifax where he obtained his medical degree in 1974. Frank M. Guttman, MD, FRCSC, died on August 26, 2020, in Toronto at age 89. Dr. Guttman was certified by the Royal College in Pediatric Surgery in 1963. A Canadian surgical pioneer, Dr. Guttman was the first to successfully perform a pediatric liver transplant in Quebec and was a founder of the Canadian Association of Paediatric Surgeons (CAPS). Gilles Hélie, MD, FRCSC, died on December 14, 2020, in Ottawa, Ont., at age 95. Dr. Hélie was certified by the Royal College in General Surgery in 1956. He played a leading role in the transition of St. Joseph’s Hospital in Sudbury, Ont., to Laurentian Hospital (now a part of Health Sciences North). Read more about Dr. Hélie.

James Coulton Henderson, MD, FRCPC, died on February 15, 2021, in Kingston, Ont., at age 90. Dr. Henderson was certified by the Royal College in Anesthesiology in 1964. He was a graduate of Queens University where he obtained his medical degree in 1959. Read more about Dr. Henderson.

Arthur Leznoff, MD, FRCPC, died on January 15, 2021, in Toronto at age 90. Dr. Leznoff was certified by the Royal College in Internal Medicine in 1960. He served for many years as head of the Division of Allergy and Immunology at St. Michael’s Hospital. Read more about Dr. Leznoff.

John Cameron MacDonald, MD, FRCPC, died on January 28, 2021, in Windsor, Ont., at age 95. Dr. MacDonald was certified by the Royal College in Diagnostic Radiology in 1960. Dr. MacDonald was Chief of Radiology at Windsor Western Hospital. He is credited with bringing state-of-the-art imaging systems, equipment and training to Windsor. Read more about Dr. MacDonald.

Pallavi Nadkarni, MD, FRCPC, died on September 20, 2020, in Kingston, Ont., at age 45. Dr. Nadkarni was certified by the Royal College in Psychiatry in 2018. She was a graduate of the University of Mumbai in India where she obtained her medical degree in 1998. Read more about Dr. Nadkarni.

Theodore Kenneth Stevenson, MD, FRCSC, died on November 29, 2020, in New Westminster, B.C., at age 99. Dr. Stevenson was certified by the Royal College in General Surgery in 1972. John Howard Tait, MD, FRCSC, died on June 19, 2020, in Toronto, Ont., at age 75. Dr. Tait was certified by the Royal College in Orthopedic Surgery in 1979. He was a graduate of Queens University in Kingston, Ont., where he obtained his medical degree in 1970. Read more about Dr. Tait.
