Ramzi Yussif Abunassar, MD, FRCPC, died on November 9, 2021, in Ottawa, Ont., at age 74. Dr. Abunassar was certified by the Royal College in 1979. Born in Israel, he pursued his medical career in Ottawa, Canada. Dr. Abunassar dedicated over 40 years to the city, where he practised at the Riverside, Ottawa General and Ottawa Civic hospitals. Rex Wendall Jordan, MBBS, FRCSC, died on November 24, 2021, in Drumheller, Alta., at age 79. Dr. Jordan was certified by the Royal College in General Surgery in 1972. Born in Barbados, he eventually settled in Drumheller where he was a visionary of the city’s ambulance service. He performed more than 26,000 surgeries during his career. Read more about Dr. Jordan.

Jun Kawakami, MD, FRCSC, died on August 30, 2021, in Calgary, Alta., at age 48. Dr. Kawakami was certified by the Royal College in Urology in 2003. He was always striving to be a better surgeon, and dedicated a great deal of effort to continuing professional development. Sohrab Rawle A. Lutchmedial, MDCM, FRCPC, died on November 8, 2021, in Rothesay, N.B., at age 52. Dr. Lutchmedial was certified by the Royal College in Internal Medicine in 1997. He was a respected interventional cardiologist at the Saint John Regional Hospital. At the time of his death, he was also a member of the Royal College Nominating Committee. Rodney Owen Slonim, MD, FRCPC, died on September 8, 2021, in Toronto, Ont., at age 80. Dr. Slonim was certified by the Royal College in Psychiatry in 1970. He practised for many years at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto. Read more about Dr. Slonim.
