Izabella Morava-Protzner, MD, FRCPC, died on October 16, 2020, in Calgary, Alta., at age 77. Dr. Morava-Protzner was certified by the Royal College in Anatomical Pathology in 1987. She had a prolific career, working at Sunnybrook Hospital, Saint John Regional Hospital and, finally, Calgary Lab Services. Read more about Dr. Morava-Protzner.

Andrzej Zebrowski, MD, FRCPC, died on October 9, 2020, in St. Catharines, Ont., at age 66. Dr. Zebrowski was certified by the Royal College in Psychiatry in 1994. He was a graduate of the Warsaw Academy of Medicine where he obtained his medical degree in 1978.  Dr. Zebrowski worked as a psychiatrist in St. Catharines for over 20 years.  Read more about Dr. Zebrowski.

David Charles Healey (Dave), MD, FRCSC, died on September 28, 2020, in Moore Creek, New South Wales, Australia, at age 57. Dr. Healey was certified by the Royal College in Orthopedic Surgery in 2000. He was a graduate of Memorial University of Newfoundland & Labrador where he obtained his medical degree in 1995. Dr. Healey retired in August 2019 after 20 years in practise. Dennis F. Papadopoulos, MD, FRCPC, died on June 25, 2020, in Brooks, Alta., at age 94. Dr. Papadopoulos was certified by the Royal College in Internal Medicine in 1972. He was a graduate of the University of Athens where he obtained his medical degree in 1952 before serving in the Greek army as a second lieutenant in the medical corps for three years. Dr. Papadopoulos practised in Brooks until his retirement. Read more about Dr. Papadopoulos.

Joseph Michael Dooley, MB, FRCPC, died on February 1, 2020, in Halifax, N.S., at age 69. Dr. Dooley was certified by the Royal College in Pediatrics in 1980. He taught at Dalhousie University’s medical school for 37 years and served as head of the Division of Pediatric Neurology at the IWK Health Centre for more than 15 years. Read more about Dr. Dooley.

Susan Solymoss, MD, FRCPC, died on May 20, 2020, in Montreal, Que., at age 65. Dr. Solymoss was certified by the Royal College in Internal Medicine in 1985. She was an accomplished researcher with over 40 peer-reviewed publications. Read more about Dr. Solymoss.

Nick Rizos, MD, FRCSC, died on July 26, 2020, in Lake Havasu City, Ariz., at age 65. Dr. Rizos was certified by the Royal College in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1983. Throughout his long career, Dr. Rizos served in numerous leadership and committee roles at Havasu Regional Medical Center, including as past chief of medical staff. He was also a founding member of the Havasu Surgery Center. Read more about Dr. Rizos.

Murray MacDonell Fraser, MD, FRCSC, died on September 3, 2020, in Regina, Sask., at age 98. Dr. Fraser was certified by the Royal College in General Surgery in 1953. He had a long relationship with the Regina General Hospital that began in 1945 and after 62 years of dedicated service, Dr. Fraser retired in 2007. Read more about Dr. Fraser.

Robert A. Bertrand, MD, FRCSC, died on November 23, 2020, in Montreal, Que., at age 89. Dr. Bertrand was certified by the Royal College in Otolaryngology in 1964. He was a graduate of the University of Montreal where he obtained his medical degree in 1958. Read more about Dr. Bertrand.

James William Spragge, MD, FRCPC, died on November 16, 2020, in Surrey, B.C., at age 87. Dr. Spragge was certified by the Royal College in Diagnostic Radiology in 1973. He was a graduate of the University of Toronto where he obtained his medical degree in 1957. Dr. Spragge retired in 2005 after 26 years of service at the Royal Inland Hospital. Pierre-Paul Demers, MD, FRCPC, died on January 20, 2021, in Burlington Ont., at age 92. Dr. Demers was certified by the Royal College in Pediatrics in 1958. In addition to his success in medicine, Dr. Demers held many titles, including chief of pediatrics and vice-dean of Medical Education at Université de Sherbrooke, and director of associate affairs at the Royal College.
