Mamie Elizabeth Glass (née Bailey), MD, FRCPC, died on December 7, 2019, in Prince Albert, Sask., at age 93. Dr. Bailey was certified by the Royal College in General Pathology in 1955. The first full-time pathologist in Prince Albert, she was the former laboratory director at the Victoria Union Hospital and the now defunct Holy Family Hospital. Read more about Dr. Bailey.
Carman Henry Brooks, MD, FRCPC, died on September 7, 2019, in Scottsdale, AZ, U.S.A., at age 80. Dr. Brooks was certified by the Royal College in Cardiology in 1972. He was instrumental in the implementation of an echocardiogram program at the Scottsdale Memorial Hospital, since renamed HonorHealth Scottsdale Osborn Medical Centre. Read more about Dr. Brooks.
Reynaldo “Rey” Cardoso-Medinilla, MD, FRCSC, died on December 22, 2019, in Regina, Sask., at age 74. Dr. Cardoso-Medinilla was certified by the Royal College in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1978. He dedicated his life to his specialty, having pursued it from an early age. He delivered his final baby on December 11, 2019. Line Chevrette, MD, FRCSC, died on October 28, 2019, in Montreal, Que., at age 86. Dr. Chevrette was certified by the Royal College in Ophthalmology in 1966. The first woman in Canada to specialize in Ophthalmology, she worked and taught at the Centre hospitalier universitaire Sainte-Justine for nearly half a century. She served as a member on the Royal College’s Ophthalmology Examination Board (2000-2004). Read more about Dr. Chevrette.
Barry King Cutler, MD, FRCSC, died on December 16, 2019, in Powell River, B.C., at age 82. Dr. Cutler was certified by the Royal College in General Surgery in 1967. He practised for 32 years and was a former president of the British Columbia Surgical Society. Read more about Dr. Cutler.
Jean Deslauriers, CM, MD, FRCSC, died on September 13, 2019, in Quebec City, Que., at age 74. Dr. Deslauriers was certified by the Royal College in General Surgery (1973) and Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery (1974). Known as one of Canada’s most celebrated surgeons, he enabled the development of his subspecialty through research, publications and international work. He also volunteered for the Royal College’s Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery Examination Board (1980-1988) and Specialty Committee in Thoracic Surgery (1993-1998). Read more about Dr. Deslauriers.
John “Jack” Archibald Kilgour, MD, FRCPC, died on November 13, 2019, in Ottawa, Ont., at age 93. Dr. Kilgour was certified by the Royal College in Internal Medicine in 1957. He graduated from the University of Toronto with his medical degree in 1949. Read more about Dr. Kilgour.
Ginette Mauriello, MD, FRCPC, died on October 31, 2019, in Laval, Que., at age 88. Dr. Mauriello was certified by the Royal College in Medical Microbiology in 2011. She graduated from Laval University with her medical degree in 1958. Read more about Dr. Mauriello.
Peter Cameron F. Moore, MD, FRCPC, died on December 13, 2019, in Collingwood, Ont., at age 85. Dr. Moore was certified by the Royal College in Psychiatry in 1965. After earning his medical degree from the University of Toronto, he practised in Toronto for 45 years. Read more about Dr. Moore.
Stephen Jeffrey Sibalis, MD, FRCPC, died on November 16, 2019, in Toronto, Ont., at age 68. Dr. Sibalis was certified by the Royal College in Psychiatry in 1985. He ran his own private practice and also worked at the Michael Garron Hospital for 35 years. Read more about Dr. Sibalis.
