Maxwell Howard Schultz, MD/CM, FRCPC, died on February 16, 2020, in South Delta, B.C., at age 96. Dr. Schultz was certified by the Royal College in Anesthesiology in 1955. He was among the first doctors to train in anesthesia at Vancouver General Hospital. Read more about Dr. Schultz.
Robert Bendavid, MD, FRCSC, died on September 30, 2019, in Toronto, Ont., at age 79. Dr. Bendavid was certified by the Royal College in General Surgery in 2014. Founding member and past president of the American Hernia Society and co-founder of the Canadian Hernia Society, Dr. Bendavid was a renowned hernia surgeon, researcher and author of books on hernia surgery. Vincent Hamilton Alberga, MD, FRCSC, died on February 27, 2020, in Mississauga, Ont., at age 93. Dr. Alberga was certified by the Royal College in Ophthalmology in 1969. He graduated from the University of Toronto with his medical degree in 1958. Read more about Dr. Alberga.
Clifford B. Henderson, MD, FRCPC, died on February 24, 2020, in Kelowna, B.C., at age 93. Dr. Henderson was certified by the Royal College in Pediatrics in 1961. He is remembered as the first pediatrician in the Okanagan Valley and for his contributions to medical education. In recognition of these contributions, the University of British Columbia (Okanagan) medical school library at the Kelowna General Hospital was named after him in 2010. Read more about Dr. Henderson.
David Wallace Ingram, MBChB, FRCPC, died on March 6, 2020, in St. John’s, N.L., at age 93. Dr. Ingram was certified by the Royal College in Internal Medicine in 1961. For a decade, Dr. Ingram served on the Royal College’s Internal Medicine Examination Board. Read more about Dr. Ingram.
Jean Dumas, MD, FRCSC, died on March 28, 2020, in Montreal, Que., at age 92. Dr. Dumas was certified by the Royal College in Ophthalmology in 1959. He obtained his medical degree from Université Laval in 1955. Read more about Dr. Dumas.
Guy Leduc, MD, FRCPC, died on April 21, 2020, in Longueuil, Que., at age 91. Dr. Leduc was certified by the Royal College in Psychiatry in 1959. He practised for several years at Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont after completing his specialty training. Read more about Dr. Leduc.
Edmond Dupre Monaghan, MD, FRCSC, died on April 24, 2020, in Mont-Tremblant, Que., at age 91. Dr. Monaghan was certified by the Royal College in General Surgery in 1963. Eric Campbell MacLeod, MBChB, FRCPC, died on April 30, 2020 in Sudbury, Ont., at age 90. Dr. MacLeod was certified by the Royal College in Psychiatry in 1965. In addition to being a dedicated mental health advocate, Dr. MacLeod served on the Ontario Consent and Capacity Board for over four decades. Read more about Dr. MacLeod.
Robert Edwin Paulette, MDCM, FRCSC, died on March 21, 2020, in Calgary, Alt., at age 90. Dr. Paulette was certified by the Royal College in General Surgery in 1961. A Sherbrooke native, Dr. Paulette returned to his home town to practise at Sherbrooke Hospital following the completion of his specialty training in New York and Missouri. John Winniett Digby, MD, FRCPC, died on January 31, 2020, in Toronto, Ont., at age 89. Dr. Digby was certified by the Royal College in Internal Medicine in 1959. His medical career included working as a medical officer at a Red Cross camp as well as chief of medicine at both Humber Memorial and Hillcrest hospitals. Read more about Dr. Digby.
Jean-Guy Bonnier, MD, FRCPC, died on February 26, 2020, in Montreal, Que., at age 88. Dr. Bonnier was certified by the Royal College in Public Health and Preventive Medicine in 1978. In addition to serving on the Royal College Examination Board, Dr. Bonnier co-founded Hôpital Général de Lasalle and taught at Université de Montréal. Read more about Dr. Bonnier.
Andrew Hreno, MD/CM, FRCSC, died on April 28, 2020, in Montreal, Que., at age 85. Dr. Hreno was certified by the Royal College in General Surgery in 1965. James H. Arnott, MD, FRCPC, died on May 16, 2020, in Newmarket, Ont., at age 84. Dr. Arnott was certified by the Royal College in Internal Medicine in 1966. Clermont Fradette, MD, FRCSC, died on March 22, 2020, in Montreal, Que., at age 80. Dr. Fradette was certified by the Royal College in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery in 1971. Albert Plante, MD, FRCPC, died on May 29, 2020, in Montreal, Que., at age 79. Dr. Plante was certified by the Royal College in Psychiatry in 1970. In addition to being a medical educator, Dr. Plante worked as a child psychiatrist at CHU Sainte-Justine for 25 years and Hôpital Rivière-des-Prairies for 15 years. Read more about Dr. Plante.

Samuel Rueben Devlin, MD, FRCSC, died on June 8, 2020, in Toronto, Ont., at age 71. Dr. Devlin was certified by the Royal College in Orthopedic Surgery in 1981. Past president and chief executive officer of Humber River Hospital, Dr. Devlin was, until his death, the special advisor and chair of the Premier’s Council on Improving Healthcare and Ending Hallway Medicine in Ontario. Christine Hope Nesdoly, MD, FRCPC, died on May 2, 2020, in Erin, Ont., at age 64. Dr. Nesdoly was certified by the Royal College in Internal Medicine in 1986 and Geriatric Medicine in 1995. Douglas Bocking, MD, FRCPC, died on May 9, 2020, in London, Ont., at age 99. Dr. Bocking was certified by the Royal College in Internal Medicine in 1948. Dr. Bocking obtained his medical degree from Western University where he later became the dean of its Faculty of Medicine, followed by vice-president and vice-provost, Health Sciences. John A. C. Murdoch, MD, FRCPC, died on May 5, 2020, in Kingston, Ont., at age 53. Dr. Murdoch was certified by the Royal College in Anesthesiology in 2008. Arthur Albert Pagé, MD, FRCSC, died on April 29, 2020, in Montreal, Que., at age 90. Dr. Pagé was certified by the Royal College in General Surgery in 1959.
