David Laverdiere, MD, FRCPC, died on May 14, 2022, in Chicoutimi, Que., at age 48. Dr. Laverdiere was certified by the Royal College in Internal Medicine (2002) and Respirology (2003). A dedicated Royal College volunteer, he was a member of the Internal Medicine Examination Board for several years. He is remembered as an honest and compassionate physician, with a passion for his work and for family. Read more about Dr. Laverdiere.
David Evans, MBChB, FRCPC, died on May 21, 2022, in Toronto, Ont., at age 89. Dr. Evans was certified by the Royal College in Anesthesiology in 1964. He spent most of his career at the Toronto Western Hospital where he was the anesthetist for their inaugural heart transplant in 1968. He spent the last 20 years of his career treating chronic pain. James Edward Mullens, MD, FRCSC, died on June 8, 2022, in Owen Sound, Ont., at age 96. Dr. Mullens was certified by the Royal College in General Surgery in 1955. He enjoyed a long and successful surgical career during which he also provided medical services in Indonesia, Malaysia and Honduras. After a sabbatical in Japan in 1968, he was the first physician to introduce fiberoptic endoscopy to Canadian surgeons. Read more about Dr. Mullens.
