Heiko Baunemann, MD, FRCSC, died on February 12, 2020, in Thunder Bay, Ont., at age 84. Dr. Baunemann was certified by the Royal College in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1967. He served the Thunder Bay community for more than five decades. Read more about Dr. Baunemann.

Rodney Montague Bergh, MDCM, FRCPC, died on February 18, 2020, in Ottawa, Ont., at age 91. Dr. Bergh was certified by the Royal College in Pediatrics in 1964. A former president of the Canadian Paediatric Society, he dedicated nearly six decades to his specialty. Read more about Dr. Bergh.

Nagib Lambert Cassar, MBChB, FRCSC, died on January 19, 2020, in Côte Saint-Luc, Que., at age 83. Dr. Cassar was certified by the Royal College in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1973. For 45 years he worked in private practice in Westmount, Que., until his retirement in 2018. Read more about Dr. Cassar.

Alexander George Fagans Davidson, MD, FRCPC, died on January 6, 2020, in Vancouver, B.C., at age 82. Dr. Davidson was certified by the Royal College in Pediatrics in 1971. In addition to being a former director at BC Children’s Hospital, he contributed to the discovery of calcitonin and the establishment of several medical initiatives. Read more about Dr. Davidson.

Robert Lee Dickey, MD, FRCPC, died on January 20, 2020, in Penetanguishene, Ont., at age 66. Dr. Dickey was certified by the Royal College in Psychiatry in 1984. He graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with his medical degree in 1978. Read more about Dr. Dickey.

Isaac Fried, MD/CM, FRCSC, died on January 8, 2020, in Montreal, Que., at age 89. Dr. Fried was certified by the Royal College in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery in 1968. For 44 years, he worked at the Sir Mortimer B. Davis Jewish General Hospital. Read more about Dr. Fried.

Douglas John Gare, MD, FRCSC, died on May 3, 2019, in Toronto, Ont., at age 84. Dr. Gare was certified by the Royal College in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1965. He is remembered by patients for the profound impact he has made in their lives. Read more about Dr. Gare.

Robin Paul Humphreys, MD, FRCSC, died on March 18, 2020, in Toronto, Ont., at age 82. Dr. Humphreys was certified by the Royal College in Neurosurgery in 1970. He previously served as a member of the Royal College Pediatric Surgery committee. From 1996 until 2003, he was neurosurgeon-in-chief at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. Janusz “John” Leszczynski, MBChB, FRCPC, died on December 12, 2019. in Saskatoon, Sask., at age 89. Dr. Leszczynski was certified by the Royal College in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in 1973. Formerly president of the Canadian Association of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, he retired from practising and teaching medicine at the age 80. Read more about Dr. Leszczynski.

Glenda Marlene MacQueen, MD, FRCPC, died on March 27, 2020, in Calgary, Alta., at age 55. Dr. MacQueen was certified by the Royal College in Psychiatry in 1997. A former Royal College volunteer, she was a role model and mentor to many. She will be fondly remembered by friends, colleagues and others for the many lessons she imparted. Justin Myles Elliott Martin, MBChB, FRCPC, died on March 12, 2020, in Victoria, B.C., at age 71. Dr. Martin was certified by the Royal College in Anatomical Pathology in 1981. Born in England to Irish parents, his life and career took him from Ireland to Zambia, Canada and Saudi Arabia. Read more about Dr. Martin.

Yves Normand, MD, FRCSC, died on November 13, 2019, in Trois-Rivières, Que., at age 89. Dr. Normand was certified by the Royal College in Orthopedic Surgery in 1959. He graduated from Laval University with his medical degree in 1954. Read more about Dr. Normand.

Peter Vlad, MD, FRCPC, died on March 13, 2020, in Quincy, MA, U.S.A., a few days shy of his 98th birthday. Dr. Vlad was certified by the Royal College in Pediatrics in 1995. He is credited with helping to develop the then-emerging field of Pediatric Cardiology. He helped develop catheterization of the left side of the heart. Read more about Dr. Vlad.
