The call for applications for the 2019 Dr. Karen Mann Catalyst Grant in Medical Education Research is now open. Applications are due by 11:59 p.m. (local time) on May 17, 2019.
Awarded annually, the Dr. Karen Mann grant
- provides funding up to $30,000 for one recipient, as well as funds for an identified mentor.
- is open to Resident Affiliates (enrolled in a Royal College-accredited training program) in addition to Royal College Fellows (who are early in their careers as clinician educators or medical education researchers).

About Dr. Karen Mann, a passionate educator
Dr. Karen Mann was a passionate educator, scholar and mentor. She made many contributions to medical education, particularly through mentoring and support of young researchers. In so doing, she shaped the careers of many scholars as well as contributed to the strength of medical education in Canada. Dr. Mann, who died suddenly in 2016, also contributed widely to the activities of the Royal College. For example, her work with the Education Research Grant Committee as well as the CanMEDS Role descriptions.
