Jessica is an innovative communications and public affairs leader who engages and builds high-performing teams. Fully bilingual, she brings strong leadership, communications, public affairs and stakeholder engagement skills to the Royal College. Her extensive experience in relationship management, public relations, issues management, and media relations will be a strong anchor for the team.

Most recently, Jessica was director of stakeholder relations and executive outreach at Export Development Canada (EDC), where she created outreach strategies that have been recognized by the Minister in EDC’s Statement of Priorities and Accountabilities.

Prior to that, Jessica was director of communications at the Medical Council of Canada. Some key highlights of her work at MCC include: co-leading a national consultation that resulted in the approval for a pan-Canadian assessment program for internationally trained physicians; directing a national consultation and presentation roadshow on changes to physician licensing examinations; presenting to faculty leaders from across the country as part of the change management process, and leading a launch for a new physician application portal. She also built a communications team, where none had existed before.

Jessica holds a Bachelor of International Business from Carleton University and an accelerated Master’s of Business Administration from Queen’s University.

Many thanks to Sandra Shearman who will be retiring on June 30, 2021.
